Here's a little info:
August 3, 2010 - Fernando Torres commits his future to Liverpool after speculation he would look to move on. He said: "My commitment and loyalty to the club and to the fans is the same as it was on my first day when I signed. I am looking forward to the challenge ahead." (source: skysports.com)
January 2011 -Liverpool are 19 points behind Manchester United, 14 behind Arsenal. If United and the Gunners win their games in hand, it will be 22 points and 17 points behind each of them respectively.
January 28, 2011 - Torres handed in transfer request to leave for Chelsea.
5 months passed since Torres declared his absolute commitment and loyalty. Now he's trying to jump away from a sinking ship that is Liverpool to guarantee himself a spot in the champions league and a bigger paycheck.
Arsenal hasn't been Arsenal since Henry and Bergkamp left *sigh*. Following and supporting bro!

as a liverpool fan, we g0t 50mil from torres is a success..However, im skeptical bout carroll being 35mil :/ I just hope he will be the next alan shearer. On a bright note, Suarez is with liverpool so it wasnt so bad, tho i am disappointed that torres choose to leave. It will never be the same again for the fans. He'll be booed when we vs chelsea on sunday should he play! :D

Too much money for soccer players.
ReplyDeleteOh my.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's a shame I guess..
I honestly think that the sums for which footballers are traded are going totally out of control. Millions and millions are spent, and pretty often for stars that don't shine nearly as bright as in the past. It's like a top brand jeans, you just pay for the name.
ReplyDelete50 million pounds does buy you everything... almost.

Torres 50m to Chelsea, Carroll 35m to Liverpool..what can I say what happened to loyalty? Funny enough though..Carroll didn't even want to be sold.

ReplyDeleteWell, it's his choice, deal with it.
ReplyDeleteGood player (not lately though), but way too much money in my opinion. Has a lot to prove for that money.

Reminds me of a Louis CK routine in which he said if he were Bill Gates, he'd buy every sports team ever and make them wear dresses.
