Wenger on Carroll and friend's blog

Arsene Wenger has voiced his opinion of the transfer of Andy Carroll from Newcaslte to Liverpool on the last day of January. The Englishman is definitely one of the brightest talents in the premierleague but is he worth the price Liverpool paid for him? Wenger said he would have never paid 35 mln for someone. And knowing him, even if that was Messi, he wouldn't have paid more than 20 mln.

I agree with the Arsenal manager, seeing how inflation hit the world of football lately, I believe most players are now overvalued. Clubs seem to forget where they are coming from and that money they spend is just a temporary borrowing, backed up by rich owners. I guess this is some kind of transfer of money to run the economy, but that still doesn't help anyone but the footballing business itself. Well, and maybe the government that cashes in a nice percentage of the fees as a commission.

  3. Yes Sir Arsene Wenger has always been, in my opinion, a very smart guy. And yes I agree that a lot of players are really over valued for example, Ronaldinho. He hasn't done really much for Milan but he's getting payed like he's the star of the team!

  5. Looks like Arsenal is trying to match up against Chelsea's signings. Maybe it will be enough in the end.
